Sagittarius 2008
Jupiter, the planet and god that belongs to Sagittarius was a judge. He was an optimistic entrepreneur, always trying something new and fun, much to his wife Hera’s displeasure. He stood high up on Mount Olympus, as the boss god, and had a great overview of everything. So Saggis are generally good at judging things (in a positive and negative way) and in seeing the big picture. They take risks because they have vision – they are happy to make a strategy. This archetype, in you and in your company, gives you pointers as to how you can set your vision and strategy and therefore has a lot to do with marketing. We need Jupiterian energy to go out into the world and market our vision. That which we believe in. That’s why people with strong Jupiterian energy are often politicians.
If we have a horoscope we can therefore look to Jupiter to show us how to get our strategy and vision clear and therefore our marketing.
– How they do it …
As an example let’s take the Body Shop, which is now a huge franchise organisation. Their values page could be taken from an astrology text book. In their marketing, they promote their vision and beliefs – that helps to make a successful organisation.
Jupiter is in the sign of Taurus in the Body Shop chart. This is a sign associated with the earth and with nature. It is sensual and has an earthy humour. Here’s a quote from the site.
“We believe there is only one way to be beautiful, nature’s way.” … ” To us, beauty is a feeling, a natural way of being, where character, self-esteem and humour are freely expressed and celebrated.”
Jupiter also has links with other planets in their chart and these add flavour to the vision.
Saturn: “Our commitment to seeking and sustaining natural materials and ingredients, and using all our planet’s resources wisely, guides our approach to business.”
Uranus: “We strive to treat all people in a fair and open fashion, to respect and value their integrity.”
Moon: “People are at the heart and soul of our business.”
Mars: “We were one of the first to make a stand against animal testing in the cosmetics industry” … “For years we’ve campaigned against injustices, stood up for the vulnerable and spoken out for those without a voice of their own.”
Ceres also shows the belief in and commitment to using natural and sustainable resources.
In these few statements it is obvious what you are buying into when you buy products from the Body Shop. Anita Roddick was an extraordinary entrepreneur and this came naturally to her. Some of us could use a little help from the horoscope!
So what about you?
Your horoscope can help you with your own vision and marketing in the same way. It can be used to assist in defining what you believe in and suggest ideas for getting the word out there – whether it be in a c.v. for a job or for your own enterprise. Hopefully food for thought.
And while we are on the subject of Jupiter, it was one of his antics that caused Hera’s faithful watcher, Argus to be killed by Mercury. Argus was the creature with a hundred eyes. On his death Hera placed his head with all the eyes on her favourite peacock’s tail, where they remain to this day.

Interesting websites of the month
A rather long and controvesial movie actually, this time for Christmas because Jupiter rules religion.
This film ‘Zeitgeist’ has a certain angle on religion in all the parts but one section gives interesting information about the origin of Christmas.
